Host a Garden Placement

How to become a HBGBS host garden:

The Historic and Botanic Garden Bursary Scheme (HBGBS) one year practical full-time garden placement requires a host to be able to demonstrate a proven commitment to staff training and to the development of a trainee’s skills to the highest standards. The HBGBS offer a bursary towards the trainee’s salary and can offer support and expertise throughout the placement.

FAQ's for host gardens

You may register an expression of interest with the scheme throughout the year  Submission of an Expression of Interest does not comit you to taking a trainee. All expressions of interst will be reviewed at the start of each year and confirmed by the end of February. Trainee interviews take place in April. Each placement starts on the 1st September. All placements are full time for 12 months.
