HISTORIC AND BOTANIC GARDEN BURSARY SCHEME - STRENGTHENING THE UK'S HORTICULTURAL HERITAGE

Invitation to host an HBGBS garden placement starting September 1st 2011

The Historic and Botanic Garden Bursary Scheme (HBGBS) enables enthusiastic and committed horticulturalists to increase their horticultural skills through practical garden placements.

With support from the Heritage Lottery Fund and a partnership of world-class organisations, including: English Heritage, the Royal Horticultural Society, Sir Harold Hillier’s Garden, the Royal Botanical Gardens of Edinburgh and the Historic Royal Palaces we offer a range of unparalleled training opportunities in some of the greatest historic and botanic gardens in the UK.

We would like to invite you to become a host garden for a HBGBS trainee for 2011. The one year practical full-time garden placement requires a host to be able to demonstrate a proven commitment to staff training and to the development of a trainee’s skills to the highest standards. The HBGBS offer a bursary towards the trainee’s salary and can offer support and expertise throughout the placement.

All the partnership organisations and placement providers are fully committed to equal opportunities.
